IWDC Week 5 Update

Faithful.

The Bengals do certainly have a skill, a talent for making BAD teams look serviceable and GOOD teams look unstoppable. But still, some how, some way, by divine intervention perhaps, “The Cardiac Cats” (thanks Greg & Tim) continue to win games. Like I said last week: we are 3-1, but could be, should be 4-0.

But I still like this record for two reasons:

1.) We have them all right where we want them for our 15-1 record and…
2.) We have already had the taste of defeat and we don’t like it. This will give us a better chance against arguably a top 5 team in the NFL.

But back to the recap.

Brad St. Louis? More like Brad St. Elsewhere. Come on, dig into that obscure 1980′s pop culture reference. Just like the less than entertaining TV show, Brad St. Louis pulled the all-time mind blower at the end of his career. He appeared to be something reliable. Just your run-of-the-mill hospital drama starring the guy that would later go onto academy award winning success as “Principal George Fenny” from Boy Meets World. But during his final run he would reveal himself as something entirely different than the 10 year veteran rock-solid long snapper… he was all just a figment of some autistic boy’s imagination and his snowglobe. Wait, no. That was St. Elsewhere. Nevermind. You get the point… BSL is definitely not was he used to be.

And on that note, shall we call the free agency? There has got to be an available former 27th string Tight End that has done some long snapping back in 1984 during his junior year of high school. And that, my fellow fans, would be an upgrade.

Okay, okay, okay… to be fair, BSL is not all of the problem. The coaching has been lacking and that is the real reason for individual failures. I mean, trick me once Josh Cribbs – shame on you, trick me twice Josh – shame on you, err… me? We can’t afford to make this mistake against the Ravens.

On a terribly sad note, Defensive Coordinator Mike Zimmer’s wife died Thursday night in her sleep completely out of the blue. Let’s win this one for Zim. Thoughts and prayers.
